24 kinds of dinosaur have been found in South Africa, from 62 recorded finds in the Paleobiology Database. The best known are Massospondylus, Heterodontosaurus and Aardonyx.
Most of the fossils come from the Elliot Formation, the Clarens Formation and the Kirkwood Formation.
